I disagree. NIC gets it, too. The NIC Board of Trustees just doesn’t know how to deal with it. During the Finance Committee’s presentation a few weeks ago, the Committee members articulated very clearly the budget challenges faced by SD 271. The Committee’s assessment of the magnitude of the cuts the state would have to impose are proving to be prescient. I suspect that at the meeting Monday, Superintendent Bauman will deliver some unpleasant news. I doubt she will sugarcoat it or have some pompous PR flack deliver it. She is showing character, leadership, and courage by delivering the information personally to the Board and the public.
